Three times today, give 5 minutes to gamify tricking your mind out of its set patterns and perceptions.
Look at your refrigerator, and say out loud “Hah! I see you, horse! ”
Look at your table, and say out loud “I see you, Camaro!”
Look at your front door, and say “Hah! I see you, string of Christmas lights!”
If you have kids, get them to help. They’re the real professionals at this!
My son and I game this in the car. Everything we see, we call by a different name. For example, “Chicken!” actually means a cow. “Duck!” is usually a horse. And “Giraffe!” may be a deer, a wild turkey, or a housecat. To win, you have to come up with the most unlikely label of the day.
As we train our brains to entertain just the possibility that what we think we’re seeing might actually be quite different, whole new vistas will open up.
As we let go of those frozen, static ideas, we make room for new things, new realities, and the endless possibilities the Universe has in store.
Rise to the challenge!
