“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
President Franklin D Roosevelt said this is his inaugural address to the nation in March of 1933. People were scared. The Great Depression was at its worst. But FDR knew that the American people would come out alright in the end, and he stated that the nation needed to focus on what was real, not just material things.
Not much has changed, has it?
Fear will take over your mind. Fear will hijack your life. Suddenly, you find there’s no room anymore for anything but your fear.
Give your fears the boot! Open the front door, and kick fear OUT of your home, OUT of your mind, and OUT of your life.
Get back to joy. Joy in today. Joy in being alive. Joy in the ability to spend time with your loved ones.
When was the last time you heard a baby laughing?
THAT is the sound of joy.
We all smile when we hear that sound, because joy can be just as infectious as fear. More infectious than the flu. More infectious than Ebola. More infectious than COVID -19. And, just as life-changing.
Joy is the vaccine against fear. Joy is the antidote to modern life.
Joy is the default setting we’re wired for as babies.
What reminds you of joy?
As many times as you can today, take one minute to remind yourself of joy. Reset your mind back to joy.
Now THAT’S a contagion we could use!
